Country Club Residence

Phoenix, Arizona

This home was an early 1930s Santa Barbara ranch-style red-brick home on an acre lot in the Phoenix Country Club neighborhood. The challenge was to respect the existing architecture while renovating the home and incorporating strategic additions, including a family room, a new master bath, and exterior living space that included a courtyard with a water feature and a barbeque.

Respecting the architecture and construction detailing of a 70-year-old home while bringing it up to date for contemporary owners was accomplished by incorporating artisan details (such as hammered-nickel sinks and Carrera marble slabs on the soffits in the bathroom) and selected architectural salvage.

Client Testimonial

Rousseau Design did a great job; Clyde had wonderful, unique ideas while still being able to maintain the existing character of the house. Our home looks better because of his vision. He brought a lot of good ideas, yet didn’t do anything unless we were entirely behind it.

Clyde personally saw the project through to the very end. He made sure everything was perfect, while keeping everything on schedule. We had a terrific experience.
